Windows Installer Hangs Gathering Required Information

I've download and run the installer for v5.2.2 of VirtualBox for Windows. I get all the way through the setup pages of the wizard, accepting the warning about the network interface being restarted and click the Install button. The progress bar screen appears and then nothing else happens. The install UI appears interactive but the cancel button doesn't actually work. I have to kill the msiexec.exe process to get the installer to close.

  • Any of Microsoft's operating systems could experience freezing issues during Windows updates including Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and others. There's an actual issue with Windows that can cause Windows Update installations to freeze like this but it's only applicable to Windows Vista and only if SP1 hasn't yet.

  • Hi, I have the same problem. I went through these steps, but when I listed the.ini files, there was no WmiApRpl, therefore I couldn't do step 5. Any suggestions? By the way I just reinstalled the whole system, and I used the very same Windows install CD - but about 2 weeks ago, on the 'old' system I was able to use Web Installer.

I am a Windows 7 user and as soon as I found out that users of 7 and above could get the Windows 10 upgrade for free, I immediately downloaded an ISO image to boot and install with. The setup module (when run automatically at the beginning of an ansible-playbook run, or when run manually as ansible -m setup ) can often hang when gathering hardware facts (e.g. If getting disk information from hosts with high i/o, bad mount entries, etc.). Solution: try running ansible -m setup -a gathersubset=!all.

Any ideas?
